Toprak Razgatlioglu: 'I Am Here to Dream' - First Interview as a MotoGP Rider

MotoGP Bike

The Stoppie King Arrives

It is arguably the most anticipated move in motorcycle racing in a decade. Toprak Razgatlioglu, the flamboyant World Superbike champion known for his insane braking ability and celebration "stoppies", has finally arrived in the MotoGP paddock.

In his first official interview with his new team (Prima Pramac Yamaha), the Turkish rider was characteristically honest and ambitious.

"A New World"

"It is a new world for me," Toprak admitted. "Superbike is... more friendly maybe? MotoGP is serious business. The bike is a spaceship. So many buttons. Ride height devices. Aero. I have to learn everything from zero."

He acknowledged that his famous riding style—hard braking, rear wheel in the air—might need adapting for the Michelin tires used in MotoGP, which differ significantly from the Pirellis he mastered in WSBK. "But I like to fight the bike," he added with a grin. "If the bike is easy, I am bored."

Fighting the Aliens

When asked about racing against legends like Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, Toprak showed respect but no fear. "I watch them on TV for many years. Now I see them on track. I want to follow them, learn their lines. And then... maybe pass them."

He has set modest goals for his rookie season—top 10 finishes—but insiders say his pace in testing suggests he could be fighting for podiums sooner than expected.

2027 Regulations

He also hinted that 2026 is a learning year, preparing for the 2027 regulation changes which might level the playing field. "I build my house this year. Next year, I live in it."

The MotoGP season kicks off in Qatar. All eyes will be on the number 54.
