Not Your Childhood Hero
We have seen Robin Hood as a fox (Disney), a swashbuckler (Errol Flynn), a brooding hero (Russell Crowe), and whatever Taron Egerton was doing. But we have never seen him like this.
The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer, has officially received an R Rating from the MPAA for "strong graphic violence and gore."
A Grim Retelling
Directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One), the film reimagines Robin not as a merry outlaw, but as a battle-worn loner grappling with his past crimes. He is gravely injured and finds himself in the care of a mysterious woman who may offer him salvation—or death.
"This isn't about robbing the rich. It's about a man bleeding out in the woods, wondering if any of it mattered." — Michael Sarnoski, Director
Jackman's Logan Energy
Fans are already drawing parallels to Logan. Just as that film deconstructed Wolverine, this aims to deconstruct the myth of the benevolent archer. Jackman, now in his late 50s, brings a gravitas and physicality that suits a dying warrior perfectly.
The Cast
Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) co-stars, ensuring that the acting chops are off the charts. Their dynamic is said to be tense, untrusting, and emotionally devastating.
Expect arrows to actually hurt this time.
The Death of Robin Hood arrives in theaters late 2026.
