Bob Saget still holds a special place in Kat Dennings' heart.
Three years after the late actor's death, shift gears The 38-year-old star recalled her former TV father in an exclusive interview with People magazine and explained why his kindness has stayed with her for decades.
In 2001, Saget and Dennings starred in nurturing dadplaying father and daughter Matt Stewart and Sarah Stewart. Although the sitcom only ran for one season, Saget took his role as her protector and father seriously both on and off the set.
“God bless him. I'm so sad that he passed away,” she said with a sigh, adding Full house The alum was “a pleasure” to work with.
“I remember him being very protective of me because I was a young actress and he had a daughter. So he was very sweet and very protective and very kind to me,” she recalled. “I just have very, very fond memories of him.”
Saget was found dead at the age of 65 in his room at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando, Grand Lake, Florida on January 9, 2022. His cause of death was later revealed to be blunt trauma to the head caused by an unwitnessed fall.
He had three daughters – Aubrey, Lara and Jennifer – with his first wife, Sherri Kramer, before they split in 1997. Saget met Kelly Rizzo in 2015 and they married three years later.
Rizzo marked the third anniversary of Saget's death earlier this month, sharing a touching post on Instagram reflecting on the day that changed her life forever.
In addition to video clips of her favorite moments with Saget, comfort food The 45-year-old podcaster paid tribute to her late husband in the lengthy caption.
“Three years on. Still so surreal. January 9, 2022 was by far the worst day I have ever experienced,” she wrote. “January 9, 2025 has given me reflection, memories and gratitude. I am grateful every day for the time we shared and the light, love, joy and comfort Bob brought to my life.”

Rizzo added that it's a “miracle” that the public's affection for Saget “hasn't waned” over the years.
“He still holds such a huge space in people's hearts. His legacy remains so strong and I am constantly asked to share more memories of Bob,” she continued. “Not only does it make me so happy, but I know from above he feels and is deeply moved by all the love from people's continued appreciation for him.”
