New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson is stepping up to help his community following the tragic attack on Bourbon Street on New Year's Day. The NBA star donated $100,000 to the Greater New Orleans Foundation's Tragedy Fund to support victims and their families. “As a father, a son and someone who loves the community, this hits me hard,” Williamson told ESPN. “It's not just about money, it's about coming together and making sure no one feels alone.” Williamson is one of several local people offering support. New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan announced on social media that he will donate $25,000 to the fund. Meanwhile, Saints and Pelicans owner Gayle Benson pledged $1.25 million to assist those affected. “We are fully committed to supporting the victims and their families following the tragic events on Bourbon Street this New Year,” Benson said in a statement. “Through the Greater New Orleans Foundation's Disaster Relief Fund, we will provide critical assistance to those affected, ensuring they have the resources they need during this challenging time.” The attack killed 14 people and injured many more. It sent shockwaves through the New Orleans community. “It is our collective responsibility to support our communities during these difficult times,” Benson continued. “I will continue to stand with New Orleans as we heal together.” Like this: Like Loading… Discover more from Baller AlertSubscribe to get the latest posts delivered to your email.
