Trump signed a series of executive orders on Monday that brought sweeping changes, including suspending refugee resettlement, reinstating the controversial “Remain in Mexico” policy and ending key parole programs for immigrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela plan. The goal is to reduce crowding at points of entry and deter dangerous, unauthorized crossings. However, in an executive order, Trump directed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to “cease the use of ‘CBP One’ applications as a method of parole or accommodation to allow aliens to enter the United States.” The order also required DHS to terminate “all violations of the U.S. Policy’s Absolute Parole Plan,” including the CHNV plan. Shortly after Trump signed the executive order, the CBP One app's website was listed as “no longer available” and tens of thousands of immigration appointments scheduled through the platform were marked as “cancelled.” The CHNV website was also taken down, leaving migrants in limbo.
