Donald Trump announced plans to send American workers to Ukraine to assist in mineral extraction, a move aimed at preventing Russian aggression by gaining US presence in the region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet with Trump in Washington on Friday to formalize a deal that will allow the United States to obtain valuable deposits from Ukraine’s precious Earth Mining. Zelensky said he hopes that the “preliminary” agreement will lead to a larger agreement, although he clarified that there is no U.S. security assurance. Although no specific terms have been disclosed, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shyhal revealed that an “investment fund” will be established to help rebuild Ukraine. In addition, Ukraine will go from state-owned resources to 50% of the fund's future revenue, which will focus on projects in Ukraine. Zelensky noted that it is too early to talk about money, although reports suggest that the U.S. will hold the largest stake permitted by law. Zelensky pushes for company security assurance, but Trump said that while Ukraine’s American workers will provide “automatic security,” the ultimate responsibility for Europe lies in Europe. Nevertheless, Shyhal said Ukraine would not sign a deal without security arrangements, stressing the importance of security assurance in achieving peace. The deal will give the United States access to Ukraine's wide range of mineral resources such as graphite, lithium and rare earth metals, which is a tense tension. Ukraine's mineral wealth is crucial to various industries, including electric vehicle batteries and defense technology. However, most of this still exists on Russian-occupied territory, complicating matters further. Russia has not responded to the details of the deal, but has downplayed the importance of Ukrainian resources and asserted that Russia has “have more resources.” Like this: Like Loading: Loading… Discover more posts from Baller Alertscribe for the latest posts sent to your email.
