Doctors expressed their shock, calling Kennedy's appointment “reckless” and warning it could lead to “dangers” for public health. “This appointment is an affront to the principles of public health, the tireless dedication of medical professionals, and the trust millions of Americans have in health care,” the letter reads. Kennedy is an environmental lawyer known for his controversial stances as a vaccine skeptic whose long-debunked beliefs, such as claims that vaccines cause autism and that antidepressants are linked to school shootings, have drawn attention.
