Tina Knowles has almost put her memoirs on hold to protect the privacy of her family. Despite her initial hesitation, she found herself forced to share her story. “I don't want to write a book because I think (people) just want to know about all my kids. They won't be interested in me, but they won't be interested in me,” Solange's 71-year-old mom and Solange reveal to people that they have the best people in the world. “I lived this incredible life and you didn’t really realize it until you started writing everything.” Knowles’ writing journey began 12 years ago as a solo project for her grandson. Reflecting on her family history, she shared: “About 12 years ago, I started recording my story, and I think everyone should do it for my grandson.” This led to her memoir “Matriarchy” that evolved from behind the scenes, transforming destiny's children into her children's legacy and encouraging others to preserve family stories. Initially avoiding personal topics like her first marriage or cancer diagnosis, Knowles initially wrote very carefully, but it wasn't very thoughtful. She admits the pain of narrative losses, admits: “Death is the hardest part and I can’t pass them without crying.” Eventually, she says, “It’s a roller coaster…but it’s so amazing, it’s so amazing, an amazing journey. I won’t trade.
