The United States has given South African ambassador Ebrahim Rasool until leaving the country on Friday after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced last week that he was the role of the nongrata. After that, State Department officials summoned staff at the South African embassy and formally informed them that they were no longer welcomed Rasour. His diplomatic privileges and immunities expire on Monday and he must leave the United States by Friday. Exiting ambassadors is a rare and serious diplomatic move that may make the relationship between the United States and South Africa a relationship.
