Stephen A. Smith didn't hold back during his recent appearance on “Real Time” with Bill Maher. The outspoken sports commentator feels like a fool for publicly supporting Kamala Harris. Smith's criticism stems from Harris' lack of success during the 2020 Democratic primary. . Harris dropped out before the Iowa caucuses and never received a single primary vote. Fast forward to 2024, and Harris is the Democratic nominee without a primary. “Kamala Harris, who didn't resonate during the 2020 primaries and couldn't even make it to Iowa, suddenly became the Democratic nominee,” Smith said. “Then you go to the convention in Chicago and everyone is like, ‘She’s a rock star!’ So it’s like, ‘How did this happen?’” Smith believes voters have no real choice. “If there were a primary, she probably wouldn't be the Democratic nominee,” he said. Smith, known as a sharp critic of his own party, cited a lack of transparency in the nomination process. “We fell in love with okiedoke,” he admitted. Whether or not his views resonate with voters, Smith made it clear he's not afraid to call it what he wants.
