Most hikes in the U.S. are held on Friday, with a markedly higher markup in some categories than others, according to data compiled by Bloomberg News. The average price of the top 100 products in the beauty and health category rose 51% from Thursday, with several of them more than doubled. For home and kitchen products and toys, the average jump is over 30%, which brings a set of 10-piece kitchen towels at a price of 377%. For women's clothing, the increase was 8%. E-Commerce platforms such as Shein and Temu face 120% tariffs as the U.S. “de Minimis” exemption for small packages in China and Hong Kong ends. Washington will also raise the per capita fee to $100 after May 2, or even higher after June 1. On April 21, Trump said: “There is almost no inflation due to the decline in energy and grocery prices.” However, the price increase in Shein reflects efforts to transfer import costs to U.S. consumers.
