Donald Trump was at the Mar-A-Lago Resort, Florida when the incident occurred. The Internal Affairs Department of the DC Metropolitan Police Department is leading the investigation. During Trump's first term, a similar incident occurred in August 2020, when the 51-year-old suspect fired a gun at the White House and was “running actively.” The Secret Service shot him in the torso as Trump briefly escorted out during his return press conference.
