A federal jury sent guilty Friday in a high-profile fraud trial between Sean Kingston and his mother Janice Turner. Both were convicted on all charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and four counts of wire fraud. Detained immediately after the verdict. Kingston was ordered to be arrested for two sentences awaiting its elaborate plan involved more than $1 million in luxury goods. Fraudulent purchases are facilitated by the use of fake wire transfer confirmation confirmation as proof of payment. A text message filed during the trial revealed that Kingston instructed his mother to forge one of the receipts: “I tell you (a) the fake,” he wrote. “It looks like (looks) will arrive in a few days.” The case attracted national attention in May when the Broward Sheriff's office raided the Southwest Ranch Building in Kingston. During the investigation, authorities gathered evidence that both Kingston and Turner repeatedly sent fake payment confirmations to suppliers. In closing the argument, Turner's attorneys tried to divert the blame, referring to the so-called victim as a “fraudster.” Kingston’s defense made the artist both naive and ignorant of his financial situation. “He didn’t know how to run a company or how much money he had in his bank account.” However, the jury stood with prosecutors, who claimed that the mother and son had consistently misled the business owners for personal gain. The judgment date has not been determined.
