It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Sam Moore, whose voice, along with his partner Dave Platt, helped shape the sound of soul music. Moore, 89, died Friday morning in Coral Gables, Florida, of complications from surgery. His career began in the gospel tradition and brought him worldwide acclaim, earning him multiple honors, including induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. Together with Platt, Moore thrilled audiences with unforgettable live performances. As a solo performer, Moore has performed for several presidents, including Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
