Air Jordan 11 created the sole purpose of honoring the prince to sell out six figures. Jordan brand has designed the exclusive Air Jordan 11 “Purple Rain” to pay tribute to the legendary musician. However, after Prince's accidental death on April 21, 2016, the sneakers were never given to him. As the only pair in existence, this super rare collector’s item has been sold recently for an astonishing $100,000. The buyer's identity is not yet known. However, the famous sneaker collector Simon Voltaire Tan is the one who seems to have made a deal. The 11S is soaked in dark purple, capturing the prince's signature aesthetic. Its luxurious suede upper and tongue blends with the mud of plush velvet to create a luxurious feel that fits music royalty. The opaque purple outsole enhances the design, while the crispy white midsole and matching tongue lettering give a slight contrast. The metallic silver jump logo ends the look with exquisite elegance. The sneakers have a profound personal tribute. The custom insole features the “Jumpman” in Prince’s clear font, accompanied by the rainfall graphics, a tribute to Prince’s most timeless record, “Purple Rain.” While the collector’s items never reached Grammy Award winners, several other items owned by the prince are sold for a large amount of prices. In 2023, Prince's handwritten lyrics, “I can never replace your man” bought for $20,000.
