Pennsylvania police are investigating a suspected arson that caused “severe damage” to Gov. Josh Shapiro's official residence in Harrisburg to evacuate to authorities. Photos in 2025 show thick smoke poured from the windows of the governor's residence and painted the exterior decoration black with soot ash. Visible damage inside includes burnt furniture and a coking interior. A firefighter was seen on the front door of the brick house as smoke rolled through the damaged windows. The couple's four children, Sophia, Jonah, Max and Ruben, were not confirmed to be at home at the time. Sophia and Jonah are adults; Max and Reuben are minors. A few hours before the incident, the Jewish Shapiro greeted Passover online: “From the Shapiro family’s Seed table to yours, Happy Passover and Chag Pesach Sameach! The department said: “Although the investigation is underway, the state police are ready to say it is an act of arson. ”A 2024 poll showed that 59% of possible voters supported him.
