Paul Tazewell won history at the 97th Academy Awards and won the Oscar for Best Costume Design with his “Evil” work. Victory marked an important milestone as he became the first black man to win the award. “This is absolutely shocking. Thank you, this very important honor from the Academy,” the 60-year-old said in his speech. “I was the first black man to win a costume design award for my work on 'Wicked'. I am very proud of it.
