Our children born are deported, including 10-year-old cancer patients

NBC News reported that after immigration authorities detained their parents at a checkpoint last month, a four-year-old child, including a 10-year-old girl, was deported back to Mexico. The family passed the same checkpoint multiple times before issue, was separated, detained, and eventually stayed on the Mexican side of the border, with little help. Their 10-year-old daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer last year and has been receiving treatment, taking rehabilitation and taking medication to prevent seizures. Another 15-year-old son's child suffers from a heart disease that needs monitoring. No child has been able to get the medical care they need since he was deported. According to a family attorney for the Texas Civil Rights Program, parents have no criminal history, except for lack of legal immigration status. While previous transits allowed documentary records from their doctors and attorneys, this time, immigration authorities detained them and later deported the entire family, including four U.S.-born children. After deportation, the family was left on a bridge in Texas and spent a week in a shelter, then spent a week in the shelter. Safety issues keep them from enrolling in schools and their health remains untreated. The mother, who was detained for safety reasons, expressed fear and frustration about their situation. Advisors, including Rochelle Garza, president of Texas Civil Rights Program, called on the government to grant parole families to family humanitarians and prevent similar cases in the future.
