Bogalusa, Louisiana's youngest-ever mayor, 25-year-old Tyrin Truong, was hit with some serious accusations Tuesday. He was arrested for participating in a major drug trafficking ring and faces charges of handling drug sales proceeds and soliciting drugs. Prostitution, as well as unauthorized use of chattels, is basically taking something that belongs to someone without permission. The bust follows a months-long investigation by Louisiana State Police into a Louisiana drug trafficking organization (DTO). Bogalusa area. The group is allegedly promoting everything from opioids and high-grade marijuana to THC products and MDMA. They even use social media to manage their entire operation from payments to sales, greatly expanding their reach. In addition to Truong, six other locals were arrested in connection with trafficking, with some even accused of conspiring to distribute controlled substances. Police say profits from drug sales were used to purchase guns, some of which have been linked to violent crime in the area. Truong's bond was set at $150,000 and all seven suspects are currently being held at the Washington Parish Jail. Louisiana State Police say the investigation is far from over, with more people and potential leads still under the microscope.
