New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Khalen Saunders has been integrating into sports by opening a youth football camp designed to welcome LGBTQ participants. The Super Bowl champion announced the initiative at the 2025 GLAAD Media Awards on March 27 and elaborated on it in the appearance of the NFL Network’s Good Morning Football Game. “Being an ally is not just saying I support it, but it also shows up,” Saunders said. “Football is for everyone,” said Saunders, 28. The NFL is still a mostly male and heterosexual space, and he wants to change that. Saunders, in partnership with Glaad and NFL Pride Football, is working to ensure young LGBTQ athletes feel seen and supported. The camp is part of his original element foundation and begins on July 5. “These people feel they have to be hidden,” Sanders said. “They might like the NFL and football, but because of orientation or other external things, they shy away from it. My goal is to spread positive energy – because football is for everyone.
