The class will focus on key elements of hip-hop, including rap, beatbox, turntable, and production while exploring the genre’s cultural evolution and influences. Students will also receive one-on-one mentorship from professional practitioners and work with practitioners in Baltimore’s vibrant hip-hop community,” said Patrick. “Peabody College's diverse curriculum provides opportunities for exposure to styles and traditions outside of the conservatory environment.” Peabody College President Fred Bronstein emphasized the importance of this new initiative. “This is an important opportunity to turn Peabody’s strengths toward an important cultural movement in America that has been a driving force in the arts for more than half a century,” said Bronstein.
