The family of late Good Times star John Amos remains embroiled in a public dispute following his death earlier this year. On Christmas Day, John's daughter, Shannon Amos, announced that she had hired legal counsel to investigate her father's death in August 2024, accusing her brother, KC Amos, of elder abuse. Shannon is seeking answers through her attorney, James H. Davis III, about her father's admission to Centinela Hospital and his condition at the time of his death. Davis said Shannon's investigation stemmed from concerns about her father's care and potential inappropriate behavior. She claimed someone had lied to hospital staff about being John's daughter, raising further questions about his final days. In response, KC Amos vehemently denied the accusations, saying his father died of natural causes at the age of 84 from congestive heart failure. “My father was not physically, financially, emotionally or psychologically abused or neglected by me, Gene Brummett or Belinda Foster,” KC said. He emphasized that this conclusion was supported by Homeland Support for investigations conducted by security services companies, adult protective services agencies and law enforcement. KC revealed that his father chose Centinela Hospital because he trusted its staff and requested that other family members not enter the hospital. He was contacted during his admission. “I respect his request,” KC said, adding that John spent his final days writing, producing and praying with him and their team. Kevin Faler, vice president of operations for Homeland Security Services, echoed KC's defense. Farrar said his two-year investigation into allegations of criminal and civil misconduct found no evidence of elder abuse. He also highlighted traces of millions of dollars worth of stolen funds and property, which KC has reportedly been working to address. Farrar dismissed Shannon's claims as “boring” and highlighted John Amos' close relationship with KC and publicist Belinda Foster. John was reportedly “more like his daughter than his own biological daughter.” Shannon has made multiple accusations against her family in recent years, including filing an elder abuse complaint with Adult Protective Services in Los Angeles. . The charges were dismissed for lack of evidence and John himself denied them before his death. In June 2023, John appeared in a video from his hospital bed, accusing Shannon of elder abuse, saying she had “taken advantage of” him. Despite family tensions, John expressed hope in late 2023 that the family could reconcile, saying: “I love (Shannon). KC loves his sister… Everything will heal in time and the love will still be there.” John Amos ), beloved for his iconic role as James Evans Sr. on “Good Times,” died on August 21, 2024 Like this: Like Loading… Discover more Mostly from Baller AlertSubscribe to get the latest posts sent to your email.
