Iggy Azalea is filing serious charges against Universal Music Group. The rapper released on Twitter on March 15, claiming the company owes unpaid royalties for international revenue. “It’s crazy that throughout my career, I’ve never paid a single royalty for anything outside of the United States,” she wrote. “They owe me millions of dollars in return salary and stole me from my technically.” Azalea called UMG a “criminal” and “the stupidest company,” claiming the tag tried to resolve disputes for $18,000 after two years of legal back and forth. “General music, mark my words, your ugly words.” “You will pay what I owe.” She further slammed the company, writing, “I think universal music is criminals who actively leverage the strengths of all artists to sustain their own interests.” Azalea accused UMG of systematically utilizing musicians, especially those who don't have the resources to challenge them. “They do this with many unfortunate artists who can't afford to fight for what they owe,” she said. “General Music does need to do better.” Azalea previously sold her master's degree to Domain Capital, but her legal team continues to monitor past revenues. She remains committed to bringing the matter in court. “Thankfully, I was in good condition until they paid what I owe, until they paid me what they owe.”
