Jermaine Dupri is opening up about why he chose to sign usher. Chatting on the recent “R&B Money” podcast, Dupri admits his first act Kris Kross undermined Usher's chance to sign him in the 90s. The producers say Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly, parents of Kris Kross members, put him in multiple uncomfortable positions. “I had a clash with Chris and Chris’ parents, and I was just like, ‘I don’t deal with kids anymore. “We had a meeting and the parents…they had a dispute in the lawyer’s office. It's like, 'Oh, this isn't what I signed up for. 'So, when welcoming, he was a teenager again, and I was like “no”. When he started trying a deal with such a defensive one, the boys were underage when they signed Dupri and Uther. While he had good reason to pass on Erser, Dupri admitted not to sign him was a decision he would regret. Kris Kross' success didn't last long. After releasing the hit track “Jump” in 1992, the two eventually separated. In the following years, they reunited. Kris Kross's last performance was the 20th anniversary concert held by So So So So Def on February 23, 2013. A few months later, on May 1, Chris Kelly died from a drug overdose.
