Hollywood idol Val Kilmer dies at 65

Val Kilmer, a legendary actor (1986) and Batman Forever (1995), died at the age of 65. His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed that he died of pneumonia on April 1. Kilmer was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2014, but later recovered. His last on-screen appearance was in Top Gun: Maverick (2022), where he retakes the role of Iceman, a nod to the film becoming a household name. Kilmer's career is filled with iconic characters: Jim Morrison (1991), Doc Holliday (1993), Simon Templar in The Saint (1997). He was praised for his intense performance, and received a Saturn Award and a favorable review of the tombstone for the door. Despite years of speculation, Kilmer confirmed his battle with throat cancer in 2017 and shared his journey in the documentary Val (2021). He relied on the voice box due to complications of the treatment, but continued to inspire fans. Kilmer left behind his two children, Mercedes and Jack Kilmer, both actors.
