Delta Airlines was offering $30,000 per passenger when it crashed and turned upside down at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. The airline confirmed on Wednesday that the payment did not come with a rope and would not affect passengers' legal rights. The Delta Regional Aircraft (CRJ 900 operated by Endeavor Air) hit the airport, caught fire and overturned, stopping its roof. All 76 passengers and four crew members were evacuated safely. Twenty passengers were taken to the injured hospital, ranging from minor injuries to critical, including back sprains, head injuries and fuel exposure symptoms. As of Wednesday, 20 people have been released. Voters are now working to determine the cause of the crash. The Canadian Transport Safety Commission, as well as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transport Safety Commission (NTSB), are leading the investigation. Officials have taken back the plane's black box and sent it to a laboratory for analysis. Toronto Pearson president and CEO Deborah Flint acknowledged the extreme weather conditions that led to the crash, with back-to-back storms bringing more than 20 inches of snow to the area. But, she said, Monday was a clear day and refused to speculate on whether the weather played a role.
