Authorities ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning in the shocking death of 95-year-old Hollywood legend Gene Hackman and his wife, 65-year-old wife Betsy Arakawa. Hackman is believed to have died on February 17, nine days after the couple was discovered, according to data from his pacemaker, although the exact date of Arakawa's death is not yet known. The couple found the couple Wednesday at their home in Santa Fe in the welfare check. Hackman was found lying on the floor of the mud room, while Arakawa was found in the bathroom near the space heater. An open prescription bottle with sporadic pills was placed on the counter near her body. Although two other dogs in the family survived, a German shepherd was also found dead in a crate. Other toxicology reports and autopsy results can take months to complete, which will help determine the cause of death.
