The Okey-Dokey Girl Goes Rogue

Warning: Major Spoilers for Fallout Season 2, Episode 5.

For a season and a half, Lucy MacLean (Ella Purnell) has been the moral compass of the Wasteland. She is the "Okey-Dokey" Vault Dweller who tries to de-escalate conflicts with a smile and a stun gun. But in Episode 5, titled "The Wrangler," that veneer cracks in a spectacular fashion.

In a scene that had fans screaming at their screens, Lucy kicks The Ghoul (Walton Goggins) out of a third-story window after realizing he has been using her as bait for her father, Hank.

Purnell on the "Window Moment"

"It had to happen," Purnell told ScreenRant. "Lucy has been absorbing trauama like a sponge. She's seen her mom as a ghoul, she's eaten human flesh (accidentally), and she's been betrayed by everyone she trusts. Cooper (The Ghoul) was the last straw."

Purnell explains that this isn't Lucy becoming "evil," but rather Lucy becoming a true Wastelander. "You can't be nice forever when everyone is trying to sell your organs."

The Ghoul's Fate

While The Ghoul survives the fall (he's basically unkillable, after all), the dynamic has shifted. He is no longer the mentor/captor. He is now the prey. This flip sets up a cat-and-mouse game for the rest of the season that promises to be more intense than anything we saw in Season 1.

What's Next?

Purnell teased a "mind-blowing" twist in the finale that involves New Vegas. "If you thought the destruction of Shady Sands was controversial, just wait until you see what we do to the Lucky 38," she hinted.
