Delta Airlines' flight from Boston Logan Airport on Sunday morning was rewarded with unexpected returns shortly after detecting a smoky odor in the cabin. The flight to New Orleans, Louisiana, carried 87 passengers and five crew members, announced an emergency for the return at the time of the incident. A spokesman confirmed that a smoky smell was found in the cabin. “Our pilots followed established procedures and returned to Boston safely. We sincerely apologized to customers for their delay in travel. A Delta spokesman said three people received medical care and one passenger was taken to the hospital. It is unclear what caused the odor, and it is just the latest panic in a series of aviation incidents. In January, a US Airlines flight and the U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter collided in Washington, D.C., killing 67 people. A few days later, a jet operated by a jet rescue air ambulance crashed near Casto Gardens in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, killing six people in the moment.
