Daniel Liburdi, a Miami socialite known for his lavish lifestyle and lavish parties, was indicted by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Florida on charges of conspiracy to commit bank fraud and money laundering. The indictment also names three other individuals allegedly involved in the fraud, which amounted to more than $128 million. Liburdi, 35, became notorious in Miami society for throwing lavish parties at his multimillion-dollar Hibiscus Island mansion. According to federal prosecutors, the group used fraudulent applications to obtain merchant processing accounts, allowing them to accept credit and debit card payments to support high-risk e-commerce businesses. The scheme reportedly involved deceptive sales tactics and money laundering through bank accounts controlled by the conspirators. The ill-gotten gains funded a lavish lifestyle, including the purchase of luxury properties. Assets listed in the indictment include three mansions on Hibiscus Island and a fourth property in St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands. The most high-profile purchase is a $40 million mansion at 101 North Hibiscus Avenue that features seven bedrooms, a gym, a steam room, a yoga terrace and a private dock. Liburdi often flaunts his wealth by posting photos of yachts and helicopters on Instagram. and Ferrari also faced strong opposition from Hibiscus Island neighbors. Residents filed an emergency motion in December 2024, accusing him of hosting “large, organized events” using commercial-grade sound systems, fireworks and private security that caused traffic congestion and disrupted the peace. Law enforcement was reportedly called to his property 13 times. Other properties linked to the alleged scheme include a $13 million mansion at 269 North Hibiscus Avenue and a $15 million home at 205 N. Hibiscus Avenue, which currently rents for $37,000 a month. The U.S. Attorney's Office said the defendants could face substantial prison terms and the forfeiture of their homes and funds related to the scheme.
