Ferg declares ASAP Mob 'a thing of the past' (Video)

Rapper Ferg has said goodbye to the ASAP era. VideoASAP is “a thing of the past”, the performer revealed during a long conversation with journalist Touré. If you've been a fan of his for long enough, then you know that he was once known as ASAP Ferg. In recent years, however, he has noticeably dropped the crew nickname from his name. When asked if Ferg was still part of the collective, he admitted that the group had disbanded. “Well, I don't think there's an ASAP anymore,” Ferg said. “There's no 'Comfort Tapes' coming out, it's new. Or there's no office, there's no record label, ASAP Worldwide. I think that's a thing of the past.” However, the 36-year-old elaborated on the band's impact force, an influence that has been cemented in hip-hop history. “I think people will keep the legacy that we created and those things, but when you think of ASAP, from a musical perspective, you think of me and Rocky. Of course, it's built on the foundation of Barry and Yams 'But we were the face.' Even though the team has disbanded, Fergie noted that he still talks to ASAP Rocky and others. “We came together as a group and we loved it. We've grown into these different entities. But we came together to do something positive and create opportunities for ourselves, our families and our friends. So we killed it. We do this 12 years,” the “Plain Jane” star explained. ASAP Mob originally launched in Harlem in 2006 by Steven Rodriguez, known professionally as ASAP Yams. He was responsible for bringing many artists together. Sadly, Yams passed away on January 18, 2015, and his death arguably caused a rift within the group.
