Kim Kardashian and social media users call for higher wages for California's incarcerated firefighters

As inmates continue to spend just a few dollars a day fighting fires, some are calling for them to receive higher compensation. According to the BBC, nearly 1,000 incarcerated people are helping to put out the devastating fires. Unfortunately, some media outlets estimate that these people earn about $20 a day, although some figures are much lower. As if the meager pay wasn't harsh enough, many of these prisoners experienced chaotic lives on the front lines. Capital and Main reporter Jeremy Lindenfeld interviewed several incarcerated firefighters. “Today I was allowed to speak to incarcerated firefighters. They told me: they haven't showered for five days, they haven't been given normal meals, they work 24 hours a day (and) they feel they are not adequately valued and paid, ” he wrote. It never increases with inflation. When the fires became more severe and many people died, no such request was ever made. ” she wrote on Instagram, before urging California Governor Gavin Newsom to “raise incarcerated firefighter pay to a level that recognizes those who risk their lives to save our lives and our homes.” Blueface's mother Carissa took a very different and distasteful stance on the matter. While on Instagram Live, a fan asked if her famous son, who is incarcerated in California, was helping fight the fires. However, Carissa Lisa said the “Thotiana” star was too rich to take on such a task: “Ma'am, they don't get rich by putting out fires in prison. “They might let your son put out the fire, though. Not mine,” she declared. Although opinions differ, all firefighters should be considered heroes considering the tireless work they do in their communities.
