Just months after going viral for his alleged romance with Victoria Monet, Stormzy is back in the news for his poor driving skills. The British rapper was banned from driving for nine months for using his mobile phone while driving. Stormzy, whose real name is Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jr., admitted the charge after an undercover police officer spotted him driving a Rolls-Royce in London in March last year. “Get your tint off and put your phone down,” the officer told him, according to court transcripts. The “Shut Up” star also previously admitted driving a Lamborghini Urus with illegally tinted windows. Before the ban was imposed, Stormzy already had six points on his license and was fined more than $2,000 for behavior deemed “dangerous and irresponsible”. Although he did not appear in court, the rapper apologized for his actions and removed the illegal overtones. Stormzy isn't the only rapper to face legal trouble for reckless driving. Playboi Carti was pulled over in 2022 for speeding 133 mph in a 55 mph zone. When asked, he explained: “I was in a hurry because I had an emergency.” The police dismissed his excuse and arrested him. Likewise, YG was arrested for DUI in October after driving over a curb. A breathalyser test confirmed his impairment.
