
Former Doña Ana County District Judge Joel Cano and his wife Nancy Cano were arrested Thursday after federal agents attacked Las Cruces House as the Trump administration escalated dramatically in immigration crackdown. The couple is accused of possessing Christian Ortega-Lopez, allegedly an illegal immigrant and believe in Venezuela's infamous Tren de Aragua Gang. It was revealed that Ortega-Lopez was hired by Nancy Cano for home repair jobs and later offered accommodation for the couple's entertainment venues. Evidence of linking Ortega-Lopez to the gang, including clothing, tattoos and communication, was found during the investigation. Ortega-Lopez entered the United States illegally in December 2023 and was released due to overcrowding. Court documents also details that four firearms were seized from the residence of the Canos' daughter, April, with social media posts showing Ortega-Lopez posing with weapons.Joel Cano resigned from his judicial position in March and was permanently barred by the New Mexico Supreme Court from holding judicial office in the state.Just a day later, Milwaukee County Circuit Court Judge Hannah Dugan was Arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly helping an undocumented immigrant Eduardo Flores-Ruiz escaped the ice officer after the court hearing. Flores-Ruiz later chased. Dugan faces federal charges of obstructing justice and concealing individuals to prevent arrest. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a strong warning against members of the judiciary, the arrest said. Bondy appeared on Fox News and said, “No one is beyond the law in this country.” She continued, “If you are going to undermine the evidence, if you obstruct the justice, it will not be tolerated, which is a crime in the United States of America. It doesn’t matter, no matter who you are, you will be prosecuted. “What’s going on in our judiciary is beyond me.” “I think some of these judges think they go beyond the law, not the law.
