Didi will face trial after the judge denied his legal team’s request for a two-month delay, ruling that there is no need to postpone the lawsuit. The team asked for more time to sort out the widespread discoveries of the case. But the judge did not waver, pointing out that Didi had four law firms represent him and that the defense should be fully capable of reviewing the materials before the scheduled trial date. For now, the jury selection is still scheduled to begin on May 5 and the statement is expected to open on May 12. He has been detained in MDC Brooklyn, New York federal prison, since being arrested in September at a hotel in Manhattan. He faces five federal charges, including two counts of sex trafficking, two counts of traffic crimes for prostitution and one for extortion. He pleaded not guilty to all charges. His lawyers continue to back off the main evidence, including today’s virus surveillance footage, showing Didi attacking ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in the hotel corridor. Cassie is one of several alleged victims expected to testify at the trial. Although she will appear in her own name, other accusers will testify under a false name. “Victims 3” and “Victims 4” will remain anonymous, and “Victims 2” will be mentioned only by the title. Crime allegations, Didi also faces multiple civil lawsuits against men and men who have repeatedly accused of sexual abuse, coercion and misconduct. It spans decades.
