Atlanta rapper OG Maco, best known for his hit 2014 song “U Guessed It,” has died. TMZ reports that Maco died last night at a Los Angeles hospital surrounded by his family after battling complications from a gunshot wound to the head. He is now 32 years old. Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that Maco has been in critical condition since he was rushed to the hospital following the Dec. 12 shooting. Despite doctors' efforts to stabilize his condition, his condition worsened after he fell into a coma. Attempts to get a brain scan and address the toxins in his body were ultimately unsuccessful. The incident that resulted in Maco's hospitalization occurred after police received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting shots fired nearby. Authorities later found a firearm near the scene. Maco's family traveled to Los Angeles to be by his side and are devastated by the loss. The rapper's death was incorrectly reported earlier this month, but those rumors were put to rest until they were confirmed today. OG Maco rose to fame in 2014 with his explosive single “U Guessed It,” which captured the energy of Atlanta's hip-hop scene and became a staple of the viral internet era. The song cemented his place on QC Records, one of the top labels in the South. In 2015, he was recognized as a member of the XXL freshman class, joining the likes of Vince Staples and K Camp. In addition to his viral success, Maco’s career has been marked by innovation, experimentation, and resilience. He's faced significant challenges, including battling a flesh-eating disease in 2019, which he discussed candidly with fans.
