During the Omega PSI PHI launch event last month, the Assistant Director of the Southern University Band has been placed on a 30-day administrative leave during the investigation of the deaths of band members. Caleb Wilson, 20, died on February 26 under police investigation as a possible fraud. Assistant band director Safiyy Abdel-Raoof was suspended, according to a university spokesperson in an email to WBRZ.ABDEL-RAOOF. “There is no further comment on this personnel matter.” The three men were related to Wilson's death. The Brotherhood’s “Promised Dean” Isaiah Smith and Kyle Thurman face felony bullying charges, while Caleb McCray is charged with fraud and manslaughter after allegedly assaulting Wilson during the ceremony. Police reported that Wilson collapsed and later died in the hospital, although the official death has not been confirmed. According to the affidavit, four other commitments occurred in the incident. Wilson is a member of the Southern University Human Jukebox Parade Band and has committed to providing it to Omega Psi Phi. It is still unclear that Abdel-Raoof participates in the launch event.
