Donatella Versace resigned as the creative director of the iconic fashion house founded by her late brother Gianni Versace, after leading the brand for nearly three decades. She will transition to the role of chief brand ambassador, parent company Capri Holdings announced Thursday. Capri's statement did not mention potential sales, and Vitale's appointment is likely to spark ongoing rumors about the deal. “Following the legacy of my brother Gianni, it's the greatest honor of my life. He is a true genius, but I want to have some of his spirit and tenacity. I'm happy to see the brand through my new eyes and will remain Versace's most passionate supporter. Versace has been in my heart in my DNA. Capri recently developed a strategic plan to revitalize the brand, highlighting its bold legacy, expanding its accessory line and aiming to reconnect with entry-level consumers.”
