O'Jays star Eddie Levert's daughter Ryan Levert dies at 22

Former O'Jays singer and R&B legend Eddie Levert is mourning the loss of 22-year-old Ryan Levert. Carlysia Levert, the daughter of Eddie's late son Gerald, confirmed the heartbreaking news via Instagram, sharing a photo of Ryan Levert and “Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my family. Please send more love to my dad and grandma,” she wrote. She also retweeted a tribute from the RNB talk show, noting Ryan's battle with lupus. On her social media profiles, Ryan also lists “lupus warrior” in her bio. The young woman joined Eddie and Gerald's son Lemica on “The Levert Opinion” podcast. Eddie has faced tremendous loss over the years. His son Gerald (R&B star) died suddenly in 2006 at the age of 40; his youngest son Sean died in 2008 at the age of 39. Eddie reflected in 2011: “I wish I could tell you that I know why, but I don't think so. I still wonder: Did I do this? … I've made a lot of changes to be a better father, husband and friend.” Despite the pain, Eddie added at the time, “It became very emotional for me. They are really missed. But it happened and there was nothing I could do about it,” both Eddie and his wife, Raquel Capelton, said of the latest tragedy.
