Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis dislikes the controversial Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan. In a press conference Thursday, Republican state leaders made it clear that the Tate Brothers, facing serious charges in Romania, were unpopular in the sunny country. The travel ban was lifted. DeSantis noted that while Florida has no effect, the state's Attorney General James Uthmeier is exploring legal options. “We were not involved,” Desantis said. “I read this through the media.” Uthmeier confirmed that Florida is investigating potential jurisdiction over the case. “Florida has zero tolerance for human trafficking and violence against women,” he said firmly. “We live in a democratic society until it is innocent until it is proven innocent. Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, accused DeSantis of political bias, calling his remarks “shameful.” Donald Trump, who was out of reach with the question, said: “I know nothing about it.” We'll check it out. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called the security risk of human trafficking and promised to review the situation. Romanian prosecutors lifted the brothers’ travel ban but maintained judicial oversight. Despite legal troubles, they plan to return to Romania in March before returning to the United States, where the brothers are charged with trafficking, rape and forming a criminal group to sexually exploit women.
