Texas congresswoman Kay Granger, who has been “missing” since July, was recently found living in a memory care facility. As Congress debates key spending bills, residents of Texas' Congressional District 12 have been wondering about Granger's whereabouts. Her last recorded vote was on July 24, 2024, against an amendment to reduce the salaries of government officials. Since then, she has missed multiple polls and there has been no communication about her absence. The Dallas Express reached out to her district and Washington, D.C., offices but received only voicemails. When a team of reporters arrived at her office, it was locked and there was no sign of activity. They were told her team packed their bags before Thanksgiving because she would be retiring at the end of the course. A tip led the team to a local memory care facility, where they identified Granger's residence. Employees at the facility acknowledged that “this is her home” but declined to comment on her voting plans. Tarrant County Republican Party Chairman Beau French expressed concern, pointing to a lack of representation during the crucial vote. “With a razor-thin margin in Congress, Republicans disenfranchised 2 million people without voting to represent CD-12,” he said. Many residents, like Hollie Plemons, think it's time for Granger to step down . “She needs to resign,” Plemons said. Despite being absent during the crucial vote, Granger remains on the taxpayer payroll until January 3, 2025.
