The NCAA announced significant changes in its trans athlete participation policy, limiting women's sports to athletes assigned at birth. The decision came into effect immediately, only one day after Trump signed an executive order designed to ban trans athletes from playing in girls and women's sports. The order allows federal agencies to withhold funds from schools and organizations that do not comply with Title IX in line with the Trump administration’s definition of sexuality, which is based on gender assigned at birth. The NCAA's policy shift is expected to have a wide impact on college sports. NCAA President Charlie Baker addressed the change, highlighting the need for clear national standards rather than changing state laws and court rulings. “We strongly believe that clear, consistent and unified eligibility standards will best serve today’s student-athletes,” Baker said. “To this end, President Trump’s orders provide a clear national standard.” Like this: Loading …Discover more from Baller Alertsubscribe for the latest posts sent to your email.
